Cilic vs Del Potro 2013 Paris Masters Trade

Cilic vs Del Potro 2013 Paris Masters Trade

Cilic vs Del Potro 2013 Paris Masters Trade.

After a long break from trading I’m back this week for the Paris Masters. Haven’t uploaded this blog, to my shame, for the past 3 months. However, I’m now posting a small but profitable trade. It’s nothing spectacular this time, as I performed the classical scalp the serve technique on the Del Potro vs Marin Cilic match counting for the early rounds of the Paris Masters.

It’s the last Masters Series 1000 event of the season, played on indoor hardcourts of the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy. This means that breaks should be a rare occurrence especially in balanced matches. However, most analysis suggest that the Paris hardcourts are somewhat slower than those from China, which where available during the China Open and the Shanghai Masters, a couple of weeks ago. Nevertheless, the fact that it’s played indoors, favors the big servers, thus scalping the serve is a good idea during balanced matches.

The indoor hardcourts are probably one of the last surfaces that allow Roger Federer to keep the pace with the ATP Top 10 players. Coming back to the trade that I want to share in this article. It involves Marin Cilic and the in form Argentine, Juan Martin Del Potro. The Croat has just returned from a 4-month-long doping ban and defeat Igor Sijsling for the Round 2 ticket. Del Potro is a recent finalist in Shanghai, where he defeated Rafa Nadal in the semis, and the successful defender of the ATP Basel title, ahead of Roger Federer.

I did scalp the serve both in the 1st and 2nd sets and I mostly did it with Cilic’s one, in order to be able to lay Del Potro for a few ticks. I successfully repeated the process a few times with a $100 liability in the 1st set and a $50 one in the 2nd. The outcome is a green trade of around $21 as you can see in the print-screen provided at the top of this post.

Del Potro won in straight sets 6-4, 7-6.
